Pilkington offers a wide variety of glass, each with different special functions. Some of these functions include those that relate to the control and regulation of the temperature, making them suitable and ideal for any residential or commercial project.
One of the functions is solar control, which reduces the solar heat gain and maximises the amount of natural light. This glass can be specified for any situation where excessive solar heat gain may be an issue. Another function is thermal insulation, which improves the energy efficiency and allows it to benefit from passive solar gain.
Safety & Practicality
Other functions of Pilkington glass concern safety and practicality. This includes fire protection glass to provide passive protection from the effects of fire for up to 180 minutes and safety and security glass to provide resistance to impact and penetration and protect people from accidental injury, deliberate attack, and damage from criminal activity.
In terms of practicality, Pilkington offers noise control glass to reduce the amount of noise inside any new build, self-cleaning glass that uses daylight and rain to clean itself.
Customisation Options
We offer a wide range of decorative options for our glass to provide style and privacy. Pilkington’s decorative glass allows for total freedom in design and can be created to meet any requirements for your new project. The glass can be either textured or etched with a pattern in various ways to offer five levels of privacy.
Additionally, further aspects, such as the colour and light transmittance of the glass, can be customised. Pilkington’s glass is also available with an environmentally friendly and corrosion-resistant mirrored surface and with optional Georgian bars, leads, and bevels for a more distinctive look.
CE Marking
The CE Marking shows that a product conforms to the harmonised European Norm specifications or a European Technical Assessment. The testing is conducted independently by accredited third parties to ensure unbiased results, and testing higher-risk products (such as our fire-resistant glass) requires greater involvement of third parties.
This CE Marking is beneficial as Pilkington’s responsibility will be clearly defined, and the supply chain can compare products on a like-for-like basis. Additionally, the performance of the glass that Pilkington declares is transparent and open to challenge. These factors are all beneficial as they show that Pilkington has tested and checked that its CE Marked glass products meet safety, health, and environmental legislative requirements.
